Membership is open to members and spouses of the TROACC. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month, September to May in the Base Library at 1330 hours.
The Family History Club is basically a fellowship of those who wish to pursue their own genealogical endeavors, and the Family History Club provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information with other genealogists. Information is provided regarding study materials, library resources, both local and regional, use of computers in genealogy, and general information on research and organizing of your family tree. Periodically short beginner or refresher orientations are offered. Guest speakers are also invited to make presentations, and field trips to local libraries are incorporated into the annual program. Members are encouraged to discuss their research or seek problem resolution at the monthly meetings.
The TROACC Family History Club (formerly Patrick Genealogy Society) was founded at Patrick AFB, January 1987 under the auspices of the TROACC. MG Maury Kendall, USA, Ret. was the guiding force in the organization of the Family History Club. LTC Charles Boardman was elected the first president.
Members are encouraged to join or participate in the activities of local genealogical societies, and join national, regional, or state societies. Local societies are The Genealogical Society of North Brevard in Titusville, Brevard Genealogical Society in Cocoa, and The Genealogical Society of South Brevard. Other societies such as the New England Historical Genealogical Society in Boston, The National Genealogical Society in Arlington Virginia, or a genealogical society in the area of your particular interest. The Family History Club can provide you guidance in contacting such societies.
